Smooth and Shiny: Hot Wheels Satin & Chrome Series!

By Gary Barnum

Hot Wheels aren’t just cool; they’re so cool they’re smooth. Our Satin & Chrome series highlights that with seven slick editions.

These releases feature a satin gray finish with new chrome orange deco. Well, one of them is less satin gray and more liquid gold. But you get the idea.

Picking up where last year’s Black & Gold series left off, you’ll recognize the bold package styling. And how do we follow up the 50th anniversary of the world’s best die-cast brand? Well, with the 51st anniversary, of course! Note the number “51” on each of these pieces.

Will be on the lookout for them everywhere I shop for cars. Was able to find 2 complete sets of the Black & Gold when they were at Family Dollars. One set for me and the other set went to my daughter. Thanks for the HEADSUP!!!

One place that has them is Gamestop. You can check online if your local store has any in stock.

So why did GAMESTOP get these for pre order only w=that sold out in minutes and the ones left at the store maybe 1 or 2 on peg are just what was left over from a case someone bought and didnt want, really weird a chain like gamestop gets this set and no other retailers have it yet, but plenty of hobby ddealers online charging $40 for a set shipped...... and a really lame tastic chase "gotta go" lmaooo.....

Might seem odd, but I think it's great to see the Aristo Rat getting some love -- best deco for this casting yet! Always loved the idea behind it (rat rod based on a Porsche 356, if I'm not mistaken), but the previous decos it's been released in just didn't do it justice IMO. But this one fits perfectly! Nice variety of castings (and the subtle differences between the decos) as well; great to see the Chevy II and Plymouth Superbird again (and I suppose it goes without saying that the 510 Wagon will always be a popular one). Not to mention -- that Gotta Go chase is hilarious(ly awesome)! Only thing I wish is that we could see them in more stores; finding places that stock these has been a bit tricky (and it doesn't seem like there are many places which stock them around here to begin with, let alone more than once). A larger store like Target/Walmart picking these up would be a godsend for sure. Great set otherwise, and I'm excited to see where you guys take this theme going forward. Cheers!

I ordered 2 Datsun 510 wagons on an auction site for an offer I could not refuse. I normally wait awhile or look for them in the wild. My 2 Wagons will be here Monday.07/15/19.

I found them at Game Stop and at Oreilly's Auto. You have to ask Oreillys to price match. Most of the time they do.

I never buy any Hot Wheels sets that are not complete. Have to pass on this as the Gold models go to resellers and hoarders. The funny part of hoarding is that years later the family calls me to sell the 10,000 or more hot wheels left to them and I get to let them know they are worthles. That is unless your planning to be a full time fleamarketeer selling at 2 for a dollar. Right now its mostly 1993 to 2007 that show up in large quantities.

I found 2 chases at two different stores. You can do it just keep hunting!
