Hot Wheels 2020 Car Culture Mix 1: Door Slammers!

By Allen Voivod

Welcome to a new year of Car Culture from Hot Wheels! Our first mix of the year, Door Slammers, features racers like the ones you might have seen in Trans-Am events from back in the early 1970s.

All five entries in this mix hug the turns with authentic deco and details. They looked highly customized, but the all-metal castings and Real Riders wheels always come standard on Car Culture castings. And the artwork on the blister cards is exactly that – art! The scenes depicted on each tie together to form a picture of one historic race to the finish!

This is an awesome set. I like every single casting too. I did complete this set two months ago. Hoping for more 2020 Car Culture and Premium set info soon.

Wish they would have done something different with the Porsche,as that is the same car tampo from the 2018 mainline.   Nothing like charging $5.47 for a car that sold for $.94 at Walmart

This is not really news,  these are already on the clearance racks at some stores.  shouldn't this have come out as news months ago?   They are nice cars though.got the set and picked up a couple extra on mark down.

Got this set back in January. Now they are just sitting on the pegs. So much for using Mattel's website for news.

I've never seen this set at the 2 nearby WMs. I've just started seeing them at Targets. In fact, bc I figured I wasn't going to see them in the stores, I ordered a set online. Only then did I start seeing them. We're talking March and Targets. Nothing in January or February and WMs or Targets. The set cost me no more than they would have cost had I bought them at Target or WM, and that includes the cost of shipping them to me.

I agree on the Porsche. Other than the metal base and RR wheels, my first impression was I've seen this before. Also, it seems out of place compared to the other 4.

This is great news for us North of the 49th. I just got 3 of 5 cars at Wally. Still looking forward to the day I can find a Datsun 510 and Alpha Romeo FGS’s. As rare as a hen’s tooth!

Saw the name and got excited till I saw it was all imports as the term doorslammer refers to a modified, gasser or pro stock in drag racing, even the pro mods are called door slammers, big blocks no nitro.

So Hot Wheels...for those who don’t live in the US or have a store near that stock these casting, are these going to be made available on here to purchase?

Mattel are soo behind on their marketing. Their Twitter account is months behind their own product releases. It’s ridiculous!!

I'm new to collecting. Just got my RLC membership this year. I'm not seeing a way to buy this set online. Forgive me for being oblivious. This site isn't very user friendly when it comes to making purchases. Can someone point me in the right direction?

this is just hot wheels news, not about whats available on the site, for that you need to be in the redline club and check the redline club forums and announcements

I finally got this set locally. I really like the set! As a suggestion, would there be a way to print the artwork as a poster? Since it all goes into one picture it would make for a neat display...
