2020 Flying Customs Mix 2 at Target

By Gary Barnum

Sometimes what was old becomes new again! A sweet old-school styling makes these Hot Wheels editions stand out in the world of today. Our 2020 Flying Customs mix 2 releases are exclusive to Target stores.

Leaning into a retro deco, these eight castings burst onto the modern scene. We know you won’t overlook the slick representational illustration specific to each vehicle on the blister cards. Don’t let them slip into your past!

The first set just hit Northern NJ -Parsippany area stores this week. This is the first time I've seen them. the '69 VW Squareback is pretty sweet.

Mix 1 never even showed up at any of my local Targets.

I mean, I keep telling myself that Hot Wheels isn't worth my time anymore. Yet I keep falling into the same trap. SMH...

Only thing I don’t understand is why the HO or BW rims aren’t used on all the releases.

these are super cool, but why not stay true to the line and put some blackwalls on some of those 5 spoke cars?

My local Targets are only now getting the first set on the pegs!?!

And nothing from the new mainline releases...

I suspect the reason these Target exclusives don't make it to pegs are they never make it to the store floor.  Not every store does it but many store employees scoop them up and they end up on eBay.  It's getting as bad as buying tickets to a sporting event, it must be bought via a third party like StubHub.

I just barely found mix 1. I’m guessing it will still be awhile before these hit any store I regularly go to.

Just looking at this Mix 2 as I just returned from Target where I bought all eight of Mix 1.  Had to laugh.

I was at Walmart last week and bought 2-10 of Stars & Stripes series. Could have got the whole set but someone stole #1 AMC, empty card on shelf.

Our Target just put more cases of Throwback series on the pegs.  Will take forever to see these.  Why put 5 spokes on some of the models?  Use the older blackwall/Hot Ones style on all of them, jeez!

Yes the pegs now have The second mix of throwback cars from last year which you couldn't find last year.  Anyone?  Seriously?  If they are here and you sent them to target why not mention to Target that the collectors would like to see these cars. If you didn't send them why are you advertising like you did.

How about an answer for once?

Wife found all (but c10) on Series #2;  still searching for Series #1.

I'd love to have Series 1 + an exta Nova to open... :classic_rolleyes:

these are awesome BUT I still havent found the first set!!

That's because they rarely make it to the pegs.  Store employees scoop them.

They should only use older blackwall rims and metal bases as that's the way they were released in 1975.  Bring back the Monte Carlo Stocker/Lowdown casting while you are at it.  😃
